The Israeli-Palestinian Conflict
A Solvable Conflict?
Access to land
Yet another complication
Potentially the most major conflict in the whole issue is the problem of who gets what land. Both sides want all of the land in the area. Obviously, neither side would get to take all of the land in an agreement, however. This leaves some people unhappy. There are plenty of places to live in the region, but not everyone agrees on who should control what land.

Israelis control most of the land in the region. Looking at a map, this is no secret. However, the state of Israel still wants more land. They believe that they should own all of the land in the area, as it was given to them by the United Nations a long time ago. There are many Israelis who would like to live in land controlled by Palestine. The West Bank and Gaza, the two sites controlled by Palestine, are important religious places. We can see that Israelis are interested in living in Palestinian land, as they set up settlements throughout Palestine, which has caused more conflict. If the two sides are to reach an agreement, the Israeli settlers must find an alternative to settling in Palestine.

On the contrary, there are plenty of Palestinians who wish they could live in land controlled by Israel. Not only does Israel control much of Jerusalem, but they also control a lot of the land that Palestinians themselves used to live in. In fact, there are many Palestinians living in Israel because they want to live on the land so much. Israel controls many religious places that are important to Muslim Palestinians. In addition to the Israelis, the Palestinians must find a way to compromise for land if an agreement is to be made.
