The Other Solution

A Two State Solution

There is another popular option that could be used to solve this conflict. Instead of joining the countries into one nation, some people advocate for a two state solution. In this solution, the two sides would come together and work out all the problems between them. They would have to negotiate solutions to each problem that has been brought up. In the end, it is possible that a deal could be made to give both Palestine and Israel the land, resources, and power they deserve. This would be tough, however.

At this point, it seems as if working out the conflicts between the two states would be close to impossible. Dividing up ownership over land, towns, and the city of Jerusalem would not be an easy task. The sides have tried to talk through a deal like this before, but since Israel's creation after World War 2, the nations have not been able to agree on the problem. There is no reason to think that they could suddenly come together and resolve all of the long term issues between them. It would take a massive change of heart for the countries to agree on who gets what land. There is too much on the line for both nations, and it would be very difficult to create a fair deal for both sides.

In addition to this, attempts to divide up possessions in the area could lead to more conflict and tensions between Israel and Palestine. If one side thought that the other was being unfair and unreasonable, it would drive the people further apart. This would not help in solving the conflict at all. The two countries could end up being in a worse situation than they were in before. The nations would have to be respectful and understanding in a deal like this one, and neither nation has proved to have these qualities so far.
